 Partly shaded, fire-damaged, degraded, deciduous dipterocarp-oak, seasonal. hardwood forest; phyllite bedrock deciduous, perennial, ground herb 2.5 m tall, basal diameter 2 cm, 3 stems from ground level; epidermis thin, smooth, brown; stems leafless in lower 1/2; level, erect, lax, paniculate, 1 m long; axes green with brown indumentum; involucral bracts light green, often with purple; corollas, anthers, stigmas, styles dark purple; odorless; leaf blades dull dark green above, dull light green below.
