Habitat: shady and moist area in upper watershed along annual stream in evergreen hardwood forest, limestone bedrock. Deciduous shrub, up to 250 cm tall. Stem pale brown to greenish brown, slightly fissured at base. Inflorescence axes light green to green with sparse white hairs, bracts green with dark green margin, calyx pale green to whitish green. Corolla yellowish white with white hairs outside, with dark maroon red dashes, pistil white, stigma greenish white, filaments (2) white, some with dark maroon-red stripe, anthers purplish brown to greenish brown with yellowish margin. Leaf blades green above, silvery green below. Locally very common. |
