Habitat: partly shady under story in 33 year old teak plantation and regenerating deciduous hardwood forest with bamboo. Perennial deciduous herb, up to 36 cm tall. Tuber up to 1.5 cm, brown to green-brown, roots dull beige. Base stem white, rest of stem maroon-red, upper part light green. Pedicel grooved, light green, sepals white to purplish white, petals with much color variety, from white, to white with purple patch at base, to light purple with large white patch at base, to dark purple with small white patch at base, all with 2 broad yellow stripes at base auricles, pollinia light purple, anthers brownish purple. Leaf blades shiny green above, white-green below with faint green veins. Common. |
