Habitat: It is grows in shaded areas and edges of lowland broadleaved semi-deciduous forest at elevation 150-170 m. Rhizome cream white to light brown externally, cream white internally, weakly aromatic, pungent with menthol-like taste; Leaf sheaths green, or occasionally with reddish brown tinge at base turning green distally; Ligule prominently bilobed, unequal with obtuse apices; Petiole reddish brown to dark reddish brown at base, turning plain green distally; Lamina prominently plicate, adaxially green to dark green, somewhat shiny, abaxially paler, midrib green. Inflorescence lateral or central; Fertile bracts cream to pinkish red with reddish veins; bracteoles absent. Flowers much exserted from the bracts; Calyx semitranslucent white, occasionally with reddish tinge; Floral tube white; Dorsal corolla lobe strongly reflexed, white; Lateral corolla lobes strongly reflexed, white; Labellum claw white with two elongated red patches and some tinge, distal part of the labellum white with bright orange to orange-red median composed of two swollen bands with central groove extending from the apex of the labellum to about ยพ towards the base; Lateral staminodes white with small red blotch basally; Filament white; anther spurred, connective white, Anther spurs broadly conical, slightly flattened, with a globular knob facing forward, apices pointing slightly to the sides, Anther crest semicircular with sides ending in blunt knob, white, rather thick. Epigynous glands cream white to pale yellow; Ovary cream white, glabrous. |
