Bark mid grey-brown, flaking and moderately cracked; middle bark black; inner bark yellow-brown turning dark brown on exposure to air, with scattered fine pale silky fibers, rather acid smell when cut. Leaf petiole yellow-green; blade glossy mid-green above greyish-green with dark green veins below. Flower brachy blast bright green; tepals cream aging pale yellow; stamens cream with reddish tinge at base; pistils pale yellow. Fruit (immature) pale green. Old fruits mid-brown and woody, a few still persisting on tree from previous season. NOTE: 3 other tree ranging from c.30-50 cm dbh. observed within a radius of 100 m; plus one other individual c.500 m distant, but otherwise not seen anywhere along 10 km trail to Khao Chin. |
