Evergreen tree, c. 12 m high. dbh. c.18 cm. Crown: monopodial with horizontal branching. Bark: outer bark dark brown, smooth or slightly rugged, very dense and dark (almost black) when cut; middle bark indistinct; inner bark yellow-brown with short translucent vertical streaks, no latex. Leaf: petiole pale brown hairs blade dark glossy green above grey-green below; young leaves pale red, maturing red-brown. Flower: pedicel and sepals pale yellow with brown hairs; petals dull red. |
