Perennial herb ca. 6-8 m high; pseudostem dull reddish black. Leaves dark green. Inflorescence terminal, pendulous; bracts outer in volte, dull purplish red, dark yellow inside. Flowers yellow. Compound tepal orange yellow; lobes orange yellow. Free tepal opposite and insert in compound, white. Filament white; anther orange yellow. Ovary yellowish white; style white; stigmas orange yellow. |
