Habitat: open area on concrete erosion control wall, at edge of the road and degraded evergreen hardwood forest, granite bedrock. Deciduous treelet, 250 cm tall. Bark smooth to faintly fissured, grey to grey-brown, innerbark dull yellow, fading blueish upon exposure, wood dull orange. Inflorescence axes angular to slightly winged, light green with reddish ridges, pedicel light green with some white hairs, calyx smooth, bright green. Corolla white, style maroon red, stigma bright green, outer, longer filaments maroon red anthers brown with yellow ridges, inner, shorter filaments green-white, anthers bright yellow. Leaf blades dark green above, green below. Planted (and naturalized). Common. |
