ลักษณะ :

ไม้พุ่มหรือไม้ยืนต้นขนาดเล็ก สูงได้ถึง 6 เมตร ใบ เป็นใบเดี่ยว รูปรี กว้าง 3.5-8 ซม. ยาว 9-20 ซม. ปลายใบแหลม โคนใบสอบ ขอบใบเรียบ ผิวใบด้านล่างมีขนสาก ดอก สีขาว มีกลิ่นหอม ออกเป็นช่อกลม ขนาด 8-10 ซม. ดอกย่อยขนาดเล็ก จำนวนมาก กลีบรองดอกปลายแยก 5 แฉก กลีบดอกเป็นหลอด แคบปลายแยก 5 แฉก เกสรผู้ 5 อัน เชื่อมกับฐานกลีบดอก ปลายก้านเกสรเมียแยก 3 แฉก ผล รูปกลมรี เมื่อสุกมีสีม่วงดำ

Characteristics :

Shrub or small tree, up to 6 m high. Leaves simple, opposite, elliptic, 9-20 cm long by 3.5-8 cm wide, lower surface scabrous; base cuneate; apex acute to acuminate; margin entire. Inflorescence terminal corymb, 8-10 cm across, many flowered. Flowers white, small, fragrant; calyx 5; corolla 5, tubular; stamens 5, adnate to the base of corolla; stigma 3 lobes. Fruit drupe, broadly ellipsoid, deeply purplish-black.

ตอนใต้ของประเทศจีน เมียนม่าห์ ในประเทศไทยตามป่าดงดิบทางภาคเหนือและ ภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ ที่ระดับความสูง 800-1,400 เมตร ออกดอกช่วงเดือนธันวาคม-กุมภาพันธ์

Distribution :

Southern China and Myanmar. In Thailand, found in the northern and northeastern regions, in evergreen forests, at elevations of 800-1,400 m. Flowering from December to February.
