ไม้พุ่มหรือไม้ยืนต้นขนาดเล็ก ใบเดี่ยว เรียงสลับ ขอบใบจัก ฟันเลื่อย ดอกออกเป็นช่อขนาดเล็ก มีดอกย่อยสีขาว ๒ – ๔ ดอก ผลรูปเกือบกลมขนาด ๒ – ๔ ซม. มีเมล็ดกลม สีนํ้าตาล ออกดอก ช่วงเดือนธันวาคม – กุมภาพันธ์ ขยายพันธุ์โดยการเพาะเมล็ด

Characteristics :

Camellia sinensis var. assamica is an evergreen shrub or small tree. Leaves are simple, alternate, margin serrate. Inflorescences are in small clusters, with 2 – 4 white flowerlets. Capsules are 2 – 4 cm in diameter, dehiscent, with globose brown seeded. Flowering in December – February. This plant can be propagated by seed.

ใบอ่อนนำมาผลิตเป็นใบชา นำเมล็ดมาบีบอัดให้นํ้ามันซึ่งนำมา ใช้ผลิตเป็นยา ใช้ประกอบอาหารและใช้ในเครื่องสำอาง

Uses and Utilization :

The young light green leaves are harvested for tea production. The seeds can be pressed to yield essential oil, this is used for medical, cooking and cosmetic purposes.
