ลักษณะ :

ไม้ยืนต้น สูง ๑๐ – ๑๒ ม. ใบประกอบขนนก ๓ ชั้น เรียงสลับ ดอกออกเป็นช่อแตกแขนง มีดอกย่อยสีขาวครีมจำนวนมาก ผลเป็น ฝักยาว มีสัน ๓ สัน เมื่อแก่แล้วจะแตกออก เมล็ดมีปีกบาง ออกดอก ช่วงเดือนเมษายน – กรกฎาคม ขยายพันธุ์โดยการเพาะเมล็ดหรือ ปักชำกิ่ง

Characteristics :

Moringa oleifera is a fast-growing, deciduous tree, up to 10 – 12 m tall. Leaves 3-pinnately compound, alternate. Inflorescences in erect panicles, with numerous white to creamy flowers. Fruits in cylindrical, 3-angled, dehiscent. The seeds have whitish papery wing. Flowering in April – July. This plant can be propagated by seed or branch cutting.

ผลอ่อนและยอดอ่อนนิยมนำมาประกอบอาหาร เช่น แกงส้ม ยอดอ่อนและช่อดอกนำมาลวกจิ้มนํ้าพริก หรือทอดใส่ไข่

Uses and Utilization :

Young fruits and young shoots are usually cooked foods; kaeng som, young shoots and inflorescences are boiled and eaten with chilli sauce or fried with eggs.
