ไม้ล้มลุกอายุปีเดียว สูง ๑๕ – ๓๐ ซม. ลำต้นมีข้อปล่อง ใบเดี่ยวเรียงเวียน มีกลิ่นฉุนเฉพาะ ดอกออกเป็นช่อที่ปลายยอด มีดอกย่อยสีขาวจำนวนมาก ออกดอกช่วงเดือนตุลาคม – ธันวาคม ขยายพันธุ์ โดยการปักชำต้น
Polygonum odoratum is an annual herb, 15 – 30 cm tall. The stem is node at each leaf. Leaves are simple, spirally arranged, strong smell when crushed. Inflorescences are in terminal with many small white flowers. Flowering in October – December. This plant can be propagated by stem cutting.
ยอดอ่อนและใบมีรสเผ็ดร้อน นิยมรับประทานสดเป็นผักเคียง กับลาบ หรือใส่แกงเพื่อแต่งกลิ่น มีสรรพคุณช่วยขับลมแก้ท้องอืด
The young shoots and leaves are popularly eaten fresh as a side dish with many local spicy foods and cooked in curry for flavoring. The hot taste leaves have medicinal propose for carminative.
