ลักษณะ :

ไม้ต้น สูง 8-15 เมตร ใบ เดี่ยว รูปไข่หรือมนกลม กว้าง 7-18 ซม. ยาว 8-20 ซม. ปลายใบมักแยกเป็น 3 ติ่งแหลมเล็กๆ ฐานใบมนกลมถึงรูปหัวใจ ผิวใบมีขนทั้งสองด้าน เส้นใบหลัก 5-7 เส้น ดอก สีแดงอมน้ำตาล ออกเป็นช่อตามซอกใบหรือปลายยอด ยาว 10-20 ซม. ดอกบานกว้างถึง 1 ซม. กลีบรองดอก 5 กลีบ รูปหอก สีชมพูแดง กลีบดอก 5 กลีบ รูปขอบขนาน ปลายกลีบ มีประสีเหลือง เกสรผู้จำนวนมาก ผล แห้งแล้วแตก รูปทรงกลม มี 3 ปีก ขนาด 1.5-2 ซม. ผลแก่สีน้ำตาล

Characteristics :

Tree, 8-15 m high. Leaves simple, ovate to rounded, 8-20 cm long by 7-18 cm wide, scabrous on both surfaces; secondary nerves 5-7, arising from the base; apex normally 3 lobes with acute tip; base rounded to cordate. Inflorescence axillary and terminal panicle, 10-20 cm long. Flowers red to brownish-red, ca 1 cm across; calyx 5, lanceolate, pinkish-red; corolla 5, oblong, yellow spots at the upper part; stamens many. Fruit capsule, globose, with 3 longitudinal wings, 1.5-2 cm long, mature brownish color.

Distribution :

India, Myanmar, Southern China to Southeast Asia, In Thailand, found in deciduous Forests and dry evergreen forests at elevations of 200-1,300 m. Flowering from August to September.
