FABACEAE (LEGUMINOSAE-PAPILIONOIDEAE)

ไม้ล้มลุกแผ่คลุมดิน สูงได้ถึง 1 เมตร ลำต้น และกิ่งก้านกลม มีขนหนาแน่น ใบ เดี่ยว รูปหอกแกมขอบขนาน กว้าง 1-1.5 ซม. ยาว 6-12 ซม. ปลายใบแหลม โคนใบมน ผิวใบด้านล่าง มีขนแน่น ดอก สีเหลืองอ่อนแกมสีครีม ออกเป็นช่อจากปลายยอด ยาว 5-15 ซม. มีใบประดับรูปหอก ดอกย่อยรูปดอกถั่ว กลีบรองดอก ยาวถึง 2.5 ซม. มีขนแน่น ปลายแยกเป็น 2 ปากเว้าลึก กลีบดอก 5 กลีบ กลีบบน แผ่รูปรี กลีบข้าง รูปขอบขนานแกมไข่กลับ กลีบล่างเชื่อม เป็นรูปท้องเรือ ปลายกลีบเป็นจงอย รังไข่รูปขอบขนาน ผิวเกลี้ยง ผล เป็นฝัก รูปทรงกระบอกโป่งพอง กว้าง 0.8 ซม. ยาว 2-2.5 ซม. แก่แล้วแตก มีเมล็ดขนาดเล็กจำนวนมาก รูปหัวใจ

Erect annual herb, up to 1 m high; stem and branches terete, densely villous hirsute. Leaves simple, lanceolate to lanceolate-oblong, 6-12 cm long by 1-1.5 cm wide, lower surface appressed pilose; base obtuse; apex acute. Inflorescence elongated terminal raceme, 5-15 cm long. Flowers creamy-yellow, pea-shaped; bract lanceolate, 10-15 mm long; calyx 5, up to 2.5 cm long, deeply bilabiate, divided nearly to the base, densely villous; corolla 5, standard broadly elliptic, wings obovate-oblong, keel curved, beaked; ovary oblong, glabrous. Pod oblong, inflated, 2-2.5 cm long, ca 0.8 mm wide, dehiscent. Seeds small numerous, heart-shaped.

เขตร้อนของทวีปเอเชีย ทวีปแอฟริกา และตอนเหนือของออสเตรเลีย ตามทุ่งหญ้าเปิด ในป่าผลัดใบ ที่ระดับความสูงได้ถึง 700 เมตร ออกดอกและติดฝักช่วง เดือนมิถุนายน-สิงหาคม

Tropical Asia and Africa to Northern Australia, in open grasslands and deciduous forests up to elevations 700 m. Flowering and fruiting June to August.
