ไม้ล้มลุก สูงถึง 1.7 เมตร ใบ เดี่ยว บริเวณส่วนล่างของต้น เป็นรูปไข่แกมขอบขนานถึงรูปหอก ใบใกล้ปลายยอดเป็นรูปแถบ ยาวแคบ ปลายแหลม กว้าง 1.3-5 ซม. ยาว 5-20 ซม. ผิวใบเกลี้ยง ดอก สีเหลือง ด้านนอกมีเส้นสีน้ำตาลแดงพาดตลอด ออกเป็นช่อ ยาว 10-30 ซม. ดอกย่อยรูปดอกถั่ว ขนาดบานถึง 2 ซม. กลีบรองดอก เชื่อมกันคล้ายรูประฆัง กลีบดอก 5 กลีบ กลีบบนแผ่รูปไข่ ปลายโค้งม้วน กลีบข้างรูปไข่แกมขอบขนาน กลีบล่างเชื่อม เป็นรูปท้องเรือ รังไข่รูปขอบขนาน มีขน ผล เป็นฝัก รูปกระบอง กว้าง 1 ซม. ยาวถึง 5 ซม. มีขนประปราย ปลายเป็นติ่งแหลมโค้ง เมื่อแก่แตกตามรอยตะเข็บ เมล็ด ขนาดเล็ก จำนวนมาก

Erect, perennial herb, up to 1.7 m high. Leaves simple, at the lower part ovate-oblong to lanceolate, upper part and twigs lanceolate to liner-acuminate, 5-20 cm long by 1.3-5 cm. wide, glabrous. Inflorescence elongated terminal or in the upper leaf axils raceme, 10-30 cm long. Flowers yellow, outer part with reddish brown streaks, pea-shaped, up to 2 cm across; calyx campanulate; corolla 5, standard broadly ovate, curved inward, wings ovate-oblong, keel curved; ovary oblong, hairy. Pod clavate, inflated, up to 5 cm long, ca 1 cm wide, sparsely pilose, apex curved with mucronate tip, dehiscing along the sutures. Seeds small, numerous.

India to Southeast Asia. In Thailand, found in open grasslands from deciduous forests and hill evergreen forests at elevations of 150-850 m. Flowering and fruiting from January to February.
