ไม้ล้มลุก สูงถึง 50 ซม. ต้นและกิ่งก้านมีขนแน่น ใบ เดี่ยว รูปหอกถึงแกมขอบขนาน กว้าง 0.4-1.5 ซม. ยาว 3-7 ซม. ใบมีขน หนาแน่นที่ด้านล่าง ปลายใบแหลม โคนใบทู่ หูใบหลุดร่วงง่าย ดอก สีน้ำเงินแกมม่วง ออกเป็นช่อแน่นจากปลายยอด ยาว 4-14 ซม. ดอกย่อยรูปดอกถั่ว ขนาดบานกว้าง 1 ซม. กลีบรองดอก ยาว 1.5 ซม. เว้าลึกเป็น 2 ปาก กลีบดอก 5 กลีบ กลีบบนแผ่กว้าง รูปไข่กลับ ปลายกลีบเว้าตื้น ตรงกลางกลีบข้างรูปขอบขนานแคบ กลีบล่าง คล้ายท้องเรือ รังไข่รูปขอบขนานเกลี้ยง ผล เป็นฝักรูปขอบขนาน โป่งพอง กว้าง 0.5 ซม. ยาว 1.2 ซม. ผลแก่แล้วแตก เมล็ดรูปหัวใจเบี้ยว ขนาดเล็ก

Erect, annual herb, up to 50 cm high; stem and branches appressed villous. Leaves simple, lanceolate to lanceolate-oblong, 3-7 cm long by 0.4-1.5 cm wide, densely pilose beneath; base obtuse; apex acute to acuminate; stipules caduceus. Inflorescence terminal raceme, 4-14 cm long. Flowers purplish-blue, pea-shaped, ca 1 cm across; calyx bilabiate, devided nearly to the base, ca 1.5 cm long; corolla 5, standard obovate, emarginated at apex, wings oblong, keel curved; ovary oblong, glabrous. Pod oblong, inflated, ca 1.2 cm long by 0.5 cm wide, dehiscent. Seeds unequal-sided cordate, small.

นิเวศวิทยา อินเดียถึงเอเชียตะวันออก เฉียงใต้ และอินโดนีเซีย ประเทศไทยพบทุกภาค ตามทุ่งหญ้าเปิด ในป่าผลัดใบและป่าดิบเขา ที่ระดับความสูง 200-1,300 เมตร ออกดอกและติดฝัก ช่วงเดือนมกราคม-กุมภาพันธ์
