ไม้ล้มลุก สูงได้ถึง 1 เมตร ลำต้นและกิ่งก้านเป็นสันสี่เหลี่ยม ใบ เดี่ยว รูปไข่ถึงรูปรี กว้าง 4-9 ซม. ยาว 5-14 ซม. มีขนทั้งสองด้าน ปลายใบแหลม ฐานใบทู่ถึงแหลม หูใบติดคงทน ดอก สีม่วงแกม น้ำเงิน ออกเป็นช่อตรงข้ามใบหรือที่ปลายกิ่ง ยาว 5-25 ซม. ดอกย่อยรูปดอกถั่ว ขนาดบาน 1-1.5 ซม. กลีบรองดอกเชื่อมกัน คล้ายรูประฆัง กลีบดอก 5 กลีบ เกสรผู้ 10 อัน รังไข่รูปขอบขนาน มีขน ผล เป็นฝักรูปทรงกระบอก กว้าง 0.8 ซม. ยาว 3-4 ซม. มีขนหนาแน่น เมล็ดขนาด 4 มม.
Erect, annual herb, up to 1 m high; stem and branches quadrangulate. Leaves simple, broadly ovate to elliptic, 5-14 cm long by 4-9 cm wide, pubescent on both surfaces; base obtuse to cuneate; apex acute; stipules persistent. Inflorescence elongated terminal raceme or leaf-opposed, 5-25 cm long. Flowers puplish-blue, pea-shaped, 1-1.5 cm across; calyx campanulate; corolla 5; stamens 10, monadelphous; ovary oblong, hairy. Pod clavate-oblong, inflated, 3-4 cm long, ca. 0.8 cm wide, spreading pilose. Seeds many ca 4 mm.
พบทั่วไปในเขตร้อน ประเทศไทยพบขึ้นทุกภาค บริเวณข้างทาง พื้นที่รกร้าง ป่าผลัดใบ และป่าดงดิบ ที่ระดับความสูงถึง 1,150 เมตร
All tropical regions. In Thailand, throughout the country along roadsides, waste areas, deciduous and evergreen forests up to elevations of 1,150 m.

The whole plant boiled, the decoction is a tonic for good health. The roots ground with small amounts of water and drank for a treatment to case vomiting.
