ลักษณะ :

ไม้เถา เนื้อแข็ง ใบ เป็นใบประกอบแบบมีใบย่อย 3 ใบ รูปไข่ กว้าง 2.5 ซม. ยาวประมาณ 5 ซม. ปลายใบแหลม โคนใบมน ดอก สีส้มแดง ออกเป็นช่อใหญ่ห้อยลงตามซอกใบและปลายกิ่งยาวประมาณ 35 ซม. ดอกย่อยรูปดอกถั่ว ขนาด 6-8 ซม. กลีบรองดอก เป็นรูปถ้วย กลีบดอก 5 กลีบ ไม่สมมาตร กลีบบนแผ่ตั้ง กลีบข้าง รูปขอบขนาน กลีบคู่ล่างเชื่อมกันเป็นรูปท้องเรือ ปลายกลีบ งอนแหลมโค้งขึ้น เกสรผู้ 10 อัน ก้านเกสรเชื่อมกัน 9 อัน อีก 1 อันเป็นอิสระ ผล เป็นฝัก ยาวประมาณ 15 ซม. ผลแก่แล้วแตก เมล็ดประมาณ 12 เมล็ด

Characteristics :

Woody climber. Leaves trifoliate; leaflets ovate, ca 5 cm long by 2.5 cm wide, glabrous; base rounded; apex acute. Inflorescence axillary panicle, up to 35 cm long, pendulous. Flowers bright orange-red, pea-shaped, 6-8 cm long; calyx cup-shaped; corolla 5, unequal, standard upright, wings oblong, keel curved with sharp apex; stamens 10, diadelphous, 9 united and 1 free. Pod dehiscent along the sutures, ca 15 cm long. Seeds about 12.

มีถิ่นกำเนิดบริเวณเกาะ ปาปัวนิวกีนี นำมาปลูกที่สวนพฤกษศาสตร์ จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ เจริญเติบโตได้ดี ออกดอกช่วงเดือนกุมภาพันธ์-เมษายน

Distribution :

Native to Papua New Guinea. The plant is able to grow well at Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden, Chiang Mai, Thailand. Flowering from February to April.
