ไม้พุ่ม สูงถึง 4 เมตร กิ่งอ่อนมีขน ใบ เดี่ยว ออกเป็นคู่ สลับตั้งฉากกัน หรือเป็นวงรอบข้อ 3 ใบ รูปไข่ หรือรูปรีแกมรูปไข่ กว้าง 1.8-4.5 ซม. ยาว 3-6.5 ซม. ปลายใบแหลม โคนใบสอบมน ผิวใบเกลี้ยง ดอก สีเหลืองอมเขียว ออกเป็นช่อที่ปลายกิ่ง หรือซอกใบใกล้ปลายกิ่ง ก้านช่อดอกสั้น กลีบรองดอกเชื่อมกัน เป็นหลอด ยาว 6-10 มม. ผิวด้านนอกมีขนห่างๆ ปลายแยกเป็น 4 กลีบ รูปไข่ปลายมน ไม่มีกลีบดอก เกสรผู้ 8 อัน 4 อันติดอยู่ใกล้ปากหลอด อีก 4 อันติดอยู่กึ่งกลางหลอด รังไข่รูปป้อมรี ยอดเกสรเมีย เป็นปุ่มกลม มีขน ผล รูปรีป้อมฉ่ำน้ำ กว้าง 5 มม. ยาว 8 มม. ผลสุกสีแดง

Shrub, up to 4 m high; branchlets sparsely pubescent. Leaves simple, opposite decussate or 3-verticillate, ovate to elliptic-ovate, 3-6.5 cm long by 1.8-4.5 cm wide, glabrous on both surfaces; base cuneate or rounded; apex acute to acuminate. Inflorescence terminal or in the uppermost axils raceme; peduncle short. Flowers yellow to yellowish-green; calyx 4, tubular, 6-10 mm long, hairs sparsely outside, lobes ovate; corolla absent; stamens 8; arranged in two whorls, 4 adnated to the mouth, the others 4 adnated to the middle length of the tube; ovary ellipsoid; stigma globose, papillate. Fruit fleshy, red, ellipsoid, ca 8 mm long by 5 mm wide.

พบในมาเลเซีย ฟิลิปปินส์ และ อินโดนีเซีย ประเทศไทยพบทางภาคเหนือ ภาคตะวันออก และภาคใต้ ในป่าดิบชื้นหรือริมลำธาร ที่ระดับความสูงถึง 1,700 เมตร ออกดอก และติดผลช่วงเดือนตุลาคม-มกราคม
