ไม้ต้นผลัดใบ สูง 5-10 ม. กิ่งอ่อนมีขนสั้นนุ่ม ใบเดี่ยว เรียงสลับ รูปไข่ถึงรูปรี กว้าง 5-8 ซม. ยาว 9-18 ซม. ผิวใบด้านบนเกลี้ยง มีขนนุ่มที่เส้นใบ ผิวใบด้านล่างมีขน ช่อดอกแยกเพศแยกต้น ออกที่ซอกใบ หรือออกที่กิ่งถัดจากบริเวณที่มีใบ ผลรูปไข่ ปลายโค้ง แตกไม่สม่ำเสมอ มีเยื่อหุ้มเมล็ดสีส้ม ออกดอกเดือน ม.ค.-มี.ค.

Characteristics :

Deciduous trees 5-10 m tall; young branches pubescent. Leaves simple, alternate, ovate to elliptic, 9-18 by 5-8 cm; upper surface glabrous; veins hairy; lower surface hairy. Inflorescences unisexual; male and female present on seperate trees, axillary or ramiflorous. Fruits ovoid with curved apex, irregularly dehiscent. Seeds covered with orange fleshy aril. Flowering Jan.-Mar.
