พืชล้มลุกขนาดใหญ่ อายุหลายปี ส่วนเหนือดินสูงถึง ๒.๕ ม. ใบเดี่ยว ขนาดใหญ่ รูปหัวใจ มีนวลขาวปกคลุม ดอกออกเป็นช่อจาก เหง้าใต้ดิน มีดอกย่อยสีขาวครีมจำนวนมาก ผลสด ฉํ่านํ้า รูปขอบขนาน ออกดอกชว่ งเดือนเมษายน – มิถุนายน ขยายพันธุโ์ ดยการแบง่ เหงา้ ใตดิ้น

Characteristics :

Colocasia gigantea is a large perennial herb, up to 2.5 m tall. Leaves are simple, very large cordate. Inflorescences are developed from rhizome with spathe. Flowers are unisexual which on the spadix. Fruits are in oblong berry.

ก้านใบอ่อนรับประทานเป็นผักสดกับส้มตำ หรือใส่ในแกงปลา และยังใช้ปลูกเป็นไม้ประดับได้

Uses and Utilization :

The leaf stalk is eaten fresh as a vegetable with ‘Som Tum’ or cooked in fish curry. It can also be grown as ornamental plant.
