Large-sized columnar tree up to 30 m high. Deciduous, base usually in old pneumatophores stout 30-40 cm long-swoolen to nail-shaped at the end. Flower usually in group of 2-5 or solitary bisexual and monoecious, calyx bud 2-3 tube broadly campanulate, lobes 6-7, sepal 5, petals 6, ovary superior, axile placentation, style 1. Fruit berry, loculicidar, capsule. Leaves succulent glabrous, opposite, entire and round. |
