Habitat: shady under story of slightly degraded evergreen hardwood forest, granite bedrock, infrequent forest fires. Evergreen herb/shrub, up to 250 cm tall. Roots reddish brown. Stem dark green. Inflorescence axes yellow-green with faint dark purple dashes. Flower bracts light green with black-purple margin and white hairs, calyx dull yellow with dull green-yellow lobes and white hairs. Corolla tube light green-white with faint purple dashes and white hairs, corolla white, lower lip light purple and white venation inside at base, pistil white to cream-white, filaments (2) cream-white at base, rest of filaments brownish purple, anthers white to light brown. Leaf blades green above with whitish glandular dashes, whitish green below. Common. |
